There’s a war happening within you—a battle between the part of you that clings to safety, control, and fear and the part of you that whispers, urging you toward expansion, trust, and transformation.
The ego and the higher self.
One thrives on survival; the other invites you into your infinite potential.
So, which one is running your life?
Most people don’t even realize they’re operating under the ego’s grip. It’s the voice in your head that tells you you’re not ready yet. That you need to prove yourself. That if you let go, everything will fall apart.
But what if I told you that the greatest illusion of all is believing your ego keeps you safe?
The Ego’s Cage: Carl Jung & The Illusion of Control
Carl Jung, one of the greatest minds in depth psychology, devoted much of his work to understanding the unseen forces that shape our reality—the unconscious, the shadow, and the delicate interplay between the ego and the self.
He described the ego as the “organizing principle” of our conscious mind—a necessary structure that gives us a sense of identity. It filters information, makes decisions, and helps us navigate daily life. But when left unchecked, it becomes a prison, trapping us in patterns of fear, limitation, and control.
Jung famously said:
"Until you make the unconscious conscious, it will direct your life, and you will call it fate."
This is the essence of the ego’s deception. It convinces us that our conditioned responses, fears, and self-imposed limits are simply “who we are.” But in reality, they reflect our past experiences and unresolved wounds.
The ego operates from a place of survival, constantly assessing threats—both real and imagined. It tells us:
“I can’t trust anyone.” → Leading to hyper-independence and emotional walls.
“If I fail, I’ll lose everything.” → Leading to perfectionism and procrastination.
“I’m not enough.” → Leading to overcompensation, burnout, and imposter syndrome.
Jung’s concept of the shadow reveals that what we suppress doesn’t disappear—it manifests in our lives as repeated patterns, self-sabotage, and emotional triggers. The ego resists change because change threatens its carefully constructed identity.
But what if the identity the ego clings to is not your true self?
Beyond the Ego: Jung’s Path to Individuation
Jung’s solution wasn’t to destroy the ego but to integrate it. He called this process individuation, the journey of becoming one's true self by uniting the conscious and unconscious mind.
Individuation requires courage because it demands that we confront our shadow—the parts of ourselves we’ve rejected, denied, or disowned. The ego resists this process because it thrives on keeping things predictable.
But transformation happens when we learn to witness the ego without being ruled by it.
Instead of reacting to life unconsciously, we start making choices from a place of truth. Instead of fearing uncertainty, we embrace it as the birthplace of new possibilities.
As Jung described it:
"The privilege of a lifetime is to become who you truly are."
Your true self—your higher self—is already whole. It is not bound by past conditioning, external validation, or fear-based illusions. And the more you align with it, the less power the ego has over your life.
Higher Self: The Truth Beyond Fear
Your higher self is the eternal part of you—the unshaken observer, the intuitive guide, the essence that exists beyond conditioning.
It speaks softly but powerfully, saying:
“You are safe to evolve.”
“You don’t need to control everything—flow will carry you.”
“Your worth isn’t tied to what you do; it’s in who you are.”
When you align with your higher self, you stop acting from fear and start creating from truth. You move from reaction to intention. You no longer seek validation externally because you realize you are already whole.
The Ego vs. The Higher Self: Which One Is Leading You?
The ego clings to control. The higher self surrenders to trust.
The ego reacts with fear. The higher self responds with wisdom.
The ego seeks external validation. The higher self knows its worth is inherent.
The ego avoids discomfort. The higher self embraces growth.
So, the question is:
Which voice are you listening to?
Breaking Free: Steps to Shift from Ego to Higher Self
Observe the Ego Without Identifying With It
Start noticing when your ego is running the show. Are you acting out of fear? Are you resisting something that could expand you? Awareness dissolves illusion.Challenge the Illusions
Ask yourself: “What if the opposite of this belief were true?” Instead of “I’m not ready,” consider “I have everything I need to start now.”Detach From the Outcome
The ego fears uncertainty, while the higher self trusts the process. When you loosen your grip and allow life to unfold, you create space for alignment.Shift Your State
Movement, breathwork, meditation—whatever takes you out of your mind and into your body. The ego lives in the head; the higher self resides in presence.Tune Into Intuition
Your higher self speaks through gut feelings, synchronicities, and inner nudges. When you slow down, you’ll hear it.
Your Challenge: Recognize & Release
What is one fear-based belief your ego is feeding you today? Write it down.
Now, reframe it from the perspective of your higher self. What truth is waiting to be seen?

Beliefs and The Body: The Origin Beliefs of Back Issues
Each section of the back represents a different aspect of support, responsibility, and emotional weight:
Upper Back Pain: Feeling emotionally unsupported, carrying guilt, shielding the heart from further pain.
Middle Back Pain: Suppressed emotions, fear of being judged, carrying emotional baggage from the past.
Lower Back Pain: Financial fears, lack of foundational security, feeling burdened with responsibilities.
Your back pain isn’t random—it’s a reflection of what your unconscious is holding onto.
In Episode #12, I share insights from Dr. Michael Lincoln’s work in Messages from the Body, breaking down the hidden patterns, beliefs, and unconscious programming that create chronic pain and imbalance for healing, balance, and enlightenment.
